Elf Visits!

We were lucky to recieve a visit from a real Elf from the North Pole! He told us that Father Christmas was watching how hard we were working in School! He posed for a photo with us!

Xmas Stockings!

All the children attended or Christmas Mass, which also celebrated Miss Murphys time at our School.

Yesterday we made Christmas Tree decorations. We glued a star on felt stockings and threading ribbon through! We made enough to give to other teachers and presents too!

We then watched the Year 6 Carol Service and enjoyed the fantastic singing! Our favourite song was 'Christmas Bell Carol' which we've all been humming ever since!

Today we enjoyed an assembly celebrating all our Christmas plays and said a final Good bye to Miss Murphy who is leaving.

Please can I say another huge thank you for all of your generous gifts and cards. We really appreciate them!

Have a fantastic Christmas and I look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year!

Christmas Week! 13.12.11

We made wreaths by wrapping green paper round a hoop. We then stuck on green holly leaves and screwed up tissue paper to make red berries.
We are looking forward to taking home our wreaths to hang on our doors!

We also made Christmas decorations. We cut out and stuck on a photo of ourselves, and then decorated the decoration with glitter and festive shoes! Finally we hole punched and threading ribbon through the top so we can hang these on our trees!

CHRISTMAS!

Merry Christmas to you all!

St Clares would like to wish you a Happy Festive Season in these clips!

9.12.11

Thank you for coming to the Christmas Children's Liturgy this morning! I think you'll all agree it was a great success! All the children did really well and loved performing it to you!

This afternoon we made Mince meat parcels. Each child had a turn rolling out the pastry and spreading over the mince meat before we cooked them. The children were excited to take them home to show you!

We also decorated the Christmas cake we made last week, and all enjoyed tasting the marzipan! We all added some silver decorations to the top, and look forward to seeing it finished next week!

Dress Rehearsals

Yesterday the children enjoyed meeting with their buddies to create houses made of rice paper and sweets! The children were able to work with an older pupil in the school, in an upstairs classroom which was very exciting!

We had our final dress rehearsal today in church, and the church loved getting the chance to perform in their costumes!
We look forward to showing all you parents our service in the morning!

CHRISTMAS CHILDRENS LITURGY

REMINDER: Children's Christmas Liturgy is this Friday 9th December! Please join us in the Hall for Hot Drinks and Mince pies at 9:30, then make your way to the Church at 10am for the service.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Christmas Toys

After reading the story of Harvey Slumfenburger, a boy who comes from a poor home, we began thinking about all the children in the world who are not as lucky as us!
Each group of children were given a limited supply of resources, from which they had to design and create their own toys. They had to share the equipment, and think carefully about being wasteful, as they could only use their allocated supply!
The children came up with some great ideas, and worked hard to make a range of different toys and games.
For the rest of the day, the children were only allowed to play with the toy they had created, to help remind us of children who aren't as lucky as us to have so many activities in School and at home. The children really enjoyed the activity and showed they could share, collaborate, give ideas and be creative!

Winter Walk

This morning we went on our Winter Walk around the school field. We looked at the frosty grass and laughed when we could see our breath. We discussed the cold weather and the effects it has on all the wildlife!
We were impressed that all the children were able to put on their coats, hats, gloves, scarfs and wellies independantly. Please let us know if they are able to dress themselves at home!

Tissues at the ready! We are all looking forward to dressing up as angels and shepherds and singing our songs to you!

Post Box

We have a class Christmas post box. If children wish to send cards to eachother they can bring them in and put them in our Post box. We will then give them out at the end of term!

Christmas in St Clares

Christmas is coming!

Our role play area is a workshop for Santa! the children can play as elves, sorting and wrapping presents!

We have an Advent display board. Each day, the children take off a card with a prayer on. After saying the prayer together, we hang it on our class Christmas tree!

Today the children enjoyed writing their letters to Father Christmas!
